Garden care

Garden care for the first years of a new garden

A garden we build is a promise about how it will look in three years, and the first three years decide it. Our care visits keep new planting watered, pruned and on course.

What is included

  • Watering checks and drip-line adjustments

  • Pruning and cutting back, in the right month for each plant

  • Seasonal planting and mulch

  • Replacing plants that did not establish, as the proposal states

  • A written note after each visit

How it works

From the first visit to the finished work

  1. 01

    Step 1: Handover walk

We walk the finished garden with you and write the watering and care plan for each bed.

  2. 02

    Step 2: First-season checks

We return during the first season to check watering, mulch and plant health.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Seasonal visits

Visits follow the calendar: cutting back, pruning, bulbs and mulch.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Review

At the end of the year we go through what worked and adjust the plan.

When it is done

Care follows the calendar

Each task has a month, and doing it then matters more than doing it often.

  • Winter

Pruning of dormant trees and shrubs, and structure checks.

  • Spring

Cutting back, dividing, feeding and fresh mulch.

  • Summer

Watering checks, deadheading and tying in.

  • Fall

Bulbs, leaf cleanup and new perennials.

Questions

About this work

Do you care for gardens you did not build?

Sometimes. We start with a visit to see whether the garden suits our crews and what it needs.

How often do you visit?

It follows the season. Spring and fall carry the most work, with shorter visits between.

Do you mow lawns?

No. We care for beds, trees, shrubs and borders, and can suggest a mowing service for the lawn.

Walk the site with us

We take measurements, listen to how you use the garden and agree what to draw first.
